Most all Marylanders know that the Maryland state tree is the white oak, and the state dog is the Chesapeake Bay retriever. But how many Marylanders know that the state reptile is the terrapin, the state drink is milk, or the state summer theater is The Olney Theater?
Your task will be to create a simple poster to inform others about ONE of the lesser-known state symbols. You may work with a partner or by yourself. You will use the website from the Office of the Secretary of State to help you. You will need to print out the poster page before you start, complete the poster with the symbol of your choice, then turn the completed poster in to your teacher. Good luck and have fun!
The website to use is from The Office of the Secretary of State Kids' Pages:

http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/521mc/sandridgep/symbact.htmYour poster must have the following:
- A title with the name of the symbol (Maryland State Drink)
- A label of the item (Milk)
- A picture of the symbol within the square, colored neatly.
- Interesting information about the symbol around the picture.
