How can you describe good writing? How can
you describe the good sound that some bells make?
Good
writing is the personal liaison between the writer
and the reader that takes a reader by the hand, willing
or unwilling, and leads him into new experiences of
emotion or thought.
It
may be a soft lullaby or a strident bellow, and he
may cry, or he may laugh. It may be meaningful or
absolute nonsense. It may be crude, or it may be highly
polished verbal sophistication.
But
one thing – it holds that reader to the last
echoing word.
