System
Requirements for Windows personal computers connecting to the
McDaniel Network :
- McDaniel
College Residential Network is now using Clean Access to authenticate
and verify non-College owned computers on the network. Users
will be required to login through the Clean Access system to use
the McDaniel College network.
- The Clean
Access Agent will be installed on your computer.
- Anti-virus
software is required . Acquire and install either
Norton, McAfee, Trend or AVG. (Others will be supported in
the future.) It is required that the virus
definitions are kept up to date.
- It is required
that the Operating System is patched and up to date. If
you are running Windows XP, Service Pack 2 is not required, but
it would be wise to install it prior to arriving.
- Installation
of a Spyware / Adware removal tool is highly recommended (such as
Spybot Search and Destroy, SpySweeper, Microsoft Antispyware, etc.)
Systems found to be infected with malware will be disconnected.
- It is recommended
that you either uninstall or disable peer to peer networking software
as this can cause excessive traffic without your knowledge. Excessive
traffic and copyright infringement violation reports will result
in the user's disconnection from the network.
