the START bar you will have an icon for Local Area Connection.
RIGHT
click on it
You
will now see this connection status box. Click on the ‘ Properties'
button

continue with these instructions to properly configure your
machine, you MUST have administrator rights to your machine.)
On
the properties page, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and click ‘ OK '
Make
sure the “ Obtain an IP address automatically ”
is checked, and if an IP address appears in the IP address line
remove all numbers.

the lower part of this window, you should have “ Obtain
DNS server address automatically ” checked.
Click
‘ OK ' to save settings |

When
you initially attempt to log on to any web page you will be redirected
to this screen.
Click
where it says ‘ HERE '
If
you see a ‘Security Alert' on this page, check the box “In the
future do not show me this warning' and then click ‘ OK'

(Netscape
screens will appear slightly different – you should accept this
certificate permanently and click ‘ OK' )

Enter
your McDaniel email user name (without the ‘@mcdaniel.edu') and
password. If you do not know either your user name and/or password,
bring your student ID to Wallace Newsome in the Office of Information
Technology (3rd door on the right down the Info Tech hallway)
User names and passwords WILL NOT be given out over the phone.
Click
‘Continue' |

Click
‘Download Clean Access Agent'
(If
you choose not to download the agent you WILL NOT be allowed onto
the McDaniel network.)
After
you click ‘ Download Clean Access Agent ' a security
Alert box will appear. Click ‘ Yes ' or ‘ OK
' in the Security Alert box. |

Once
the agent has downloaded Clean Access will ask if you want to
Run the program or Save it. Click ‘ Save '
(Netscape
does not ask this – just go to the next instruction box) |

The
next screen gives you the option where to save the Agent. IT suggests
saving it to your desktop.
Once
you have chosen where to save the agent, click ‘ Save
' |

Once
the download is complete you will see this box. Click ‘ Run
'
(Netscape
will show a box that requires you to click ‘ Close ')

will next see this notice. Click ‘ Run '
(Explorer
only) |

When
your browser comes back to this screen, close it out by clicking
on the small red ‘X' in the upper right hand corner. |

NOTE
: You should not see this error notice but if you
do, it means you do not have Administrative
permissions to make changes to your computer. In other words,
someone has locked you out of making changes such as adding or
deleting programs. You must have administrative
permission to continue. |

some browsers you will have to go to where you saved the CCAAgent
set-up file, and double left click it's icon to open the Install
Wizard. Other browsers will automatically initialize the Install
Wizard. |

this point you will have temporary access to Clean Access. If
your machine is lacking any parameters IT has designated as necessary,
you will have 45 minutes to go only to the allowed sites to get
what you need, ie: Windows Updates, antivirus definitions, etc.
NOTE:
it is not mandatory to download SP2 to get a connection. However
Windows will try to make you do so. DO NOT try to download SP2
– it will take several HOURS to download. |

If
you see a screen such as this, it means your machine is not meeting
IT standards to connect. You will be notified for every test your
system failed. If the test your machine failed has a ‘Go To Link',
click on that and follow on screen instructions. Not all failed
tests have a “Go To Link” button. In that case just follow on
screen instructions – REMEMBER - DO NOT TRY TO DOWNLOAD SP2! |
Congratulations! You are now connected! |

your machine has met all the criteria, you will be directed to
the Network Policy page. You MUST now accept the policy. |
