  • Born in 1956 in the Gaza Strip. His family, like the Hijabs, were forced out of their homes in Jaffa and became refugees in Gaza where he went to school.
  • 1975-1979, he studied Film and Camera in England and Egypt.
  • 1979-1981 Photographer and Camera-Assistnt at the Palestinian Filminstitut in Beirut.
  • 1981-1982 Training as cameraman at the DEFA-Studio in Babelsberg/ Potsdom GDR
  • 1982 Cameraman at the Palestinian Filminstitut, Beirut
  • He left Beirut shortly after the Israeli invasion and occupation of Lebanon
  • 1983-88 studied Visuelle Kommunikation und Freie Kunst” at the Gesamthochschule Kassel; Focus on Film and TV
  • 1987 started to paint
  • 1988-91 Further Studies “Kulturarbeit und Erwachsenenbildung” at the School for the Arts in Braunschweig, Focus on: “Medienpedagogik und Äathetische Praxis” - M.A.
  • Since 1991 freelance painter He also works half-time at the Archives of the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung in Bonn. He has been raising his two German-Palestinian sons by himself since they were 4 and 1 years old.
