Director of
Student Academic Support Services

McDaniel College invites applications for the position of Director of Student Academic Support Services. The Director is responsible for the overall operation of the Office of Student Academic Support Services and assists the college in meeting the spirit and the letter of laws protecting the rights of individuals with disabilities as mandated by section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.  The Director supervises the office, coordinates services to undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, interfaces with administration, faculty, staff, and students regarding disability related issues, provides a range of support services to all students, and conducts ongoing programs of evaluation and research. The Director of Student Academic Support Services reports to the Associate Dean of Student Academic Life and is a member of the Deans and Directors group in Academic Affairs.

Qualified candidates must have a master’s degree in Special Education or related field (e.g., Counseling, Education, Disability Services); extensive knowledge of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the American with Disabilities Act of 1990 as they relate to postsecondary education; a minimum of three years experience working with students with disabilities in a postsecondary setting, especially students with learning disabilities; knowledge of psychoeducational tests/instruments and ability to interpret psychoeducational reports; knowledge of assistive technology; excellent organizational skills as well as oral and written communication skills; ability to work effectively to meet deadlines; and basic computer literacy. Preferred: Supervisory and administrative experience and a background in psychoeducational testing.
