Directing
For students planning to enter an M.F.A. or other
professional/graduate program in directing
Prerequisites:
- Theatre major/dual major/minor
- Acting 1113, course in dramatic literature/theatre history:
Theatre of the Western World, Contemporary Theatre, Modern
American Drama
- Production experience
- Presentation of a short scene or staged reading (spring of
sophomore year or fall of junior year)
- Students must have and maintain a 2.7 GPA overall and a 3.0
GPA in the Theatre Arts Department.
Requirements:
- Directing
- Drama Workshop (spring of either junior or senior year)
- Advanced course in Acting
- Advanced course in Design
- Drama Workshop
- Assistant Director for a Performance Lab production
- Two Directing Lab productions
- Teaching Assistant for an introductory course
- Internships or summer experience as an actor, stage manager,
etc.
- Review of directed work (production or scene work) in spring
of junior year and fall of senior year
- Preparation of videotape for Graduate School applications
