Required Courses:
***Psychology: 1106 and four additional courses from psychology Awards: Psychology students are eligible to
win a variety of awards and honors in recognition of their
accomplishments. The department sponsors a chapter of Psi Chi, The National Honor Society in Psychology. The
fifteen-to-twenty members of this organization meet once a month and
participate in both college and community activities. Also,
undergraduate majors may be eligible for the James D. Smith Award which
is accompanied by a scholarship of nearly $500.00. In addition, each
year the Meltzer Award is given to a graduating psychology major who
plans to acquire an advanced degree in psychology. Departmental
Honors: Requirement: A 3.4 GPA in all courses taken in the major
at McDaniel College and completion of an honors project. An honors
project is a very important consideration for graduate study in
psychology. Students are encouraged to engage in any one of a variety
of projects (laboratory research, field studies or surveys, case
histories, theoretical analysis, etc.). Students should see any
full-time faculty member of the Psychology Department for information
and assistance. Projects should be initiated by the end of the
student's junior year. The final honors project is evaluated and must
