Welcome to the Department of
Physics at McDaniel College!
This is an exciting time to be here on the Hill!
McDaniel College is strongly committed to the sciences and
humanities. McDaniel College has completely renovated the Lewis
Hall of Science, home of the Physics Department. We occupy the
third floor of this newly renovated building, while the Mathematics
and Computer Science Department occupies the first floor. We
have worked closely with the architects in planning the layout of the
Physics Department and are very excited about our new facilities!
There is plenty of space for classroom activities, a new physics
computer lab, and better facilities for student-faculty research.
The adjoining historic Lewis Recitation Hall has also been
renovated, where the departments from the social sciences, such as
sociology, communications, and economics have taken up residence.
The rededication of Lewis Recitation Hall and Lewis Hall of
Science took place in October 2001. In addition, McDaniel
College finished constructing a new Science Laboratory Building in
October 1999, now called Eaton Hall. This new building also
adjoins Lewis Hall of Science and houses the Chemistry and Biology
Departments. We believe the proximity of the other sciences,
social sciences, and mathematics departments will foster closer
relationships among the students and faculty of the various
departments, in keeping with the liberal arts tradition. Please

line.
