Student Comment about Rebecca Carpenter One of the very showing qualities of Becky as a favorite professor is that we do call her just that-Becky. Not Dr. Carpenter, as is her proper title. Yes, we all have a great deal of respect for her, but she still allows us to, and wants us to call her Becky. This was a phenomenon I did not understand when I came to college, but it made me feel so much more comfortable with her, and the whole college experience overall. Becky also had us all over to her house several times! This is something that as my friend puts it, "you read about in college magazines, but no one ever REALLY goes to their professor's house!" but then it came true! We even carved pumpkins there as a class before Halloween, even though this fell incredibly close to Becky's due date of her beautiful daughter, Naomi! Needless to say, this activity became one that all our freshmen peers were jealous of-why didn't THEY get to carve pumpkins with their teacher? We didn't want to boast, but we knew we were lucky! :o) All of this
goes without mentioning Becky's actual teaching. Ask any of her students,
not only is she an open, available professor who will help you or assist
you with anything, but she is an engaging, interesting, and open-minded
professor who makes class fun, involved, and one that students are sad
to leave! |
