Kevin McIntyre is the Ethan A. Seidel Professor of Economics at McDaniel
College. Professor McIntyre teaches courses in
macroeconomics,
international economics, economic history, and statistics.
Dr. McIntyre has been at McDaniel since 2000. His primary
research
areas of interest include business cycles, monetary policy, Bitcoin,
and economic development in Eastern Europe, and has published articles
in journals including The
Journal of Macroeconomics, Eastern Economic Review,
and International
Advances in Economic Research.
In 2004, Professor McIntyre was awarded the Order of Omega &
Gamma
Sigma Alpha Outstanding Professor Award, and is the recipient of a 2015
ASIANetwork Freeman Foundation grant to conduct research with students
in China. Professor McIntyre has also been visiting faculty
at
McDaniel Europe in Budapest and Universite Saint-Louis, Brussels.
Prior to
joining the McDaniel faculty, Professor McIntyre was a Senior Economist
at Moody's Analytics (formerly RFA Dismal Sciences), near Philadelphia,
where he covered inflation, foreign exchange markets, the New England
regional economy, and the financial services industry.
Dr.
McIntyre received his Bachelor of Arts in economics and mathematics
from Grinnell College and his Master of Arts and Ph.D. in economics
from the University of Virginia.
Outside of professional
interests, Professor McIntyre travels widely, reads, rides his Harley,
watches Star Wars excessively, and looks for good curry
restaurants. He lives in Westminster with his wife Diane,
daughter Adelaide, and naughty cats Chloe, Daisy, George,
Thumper, Panda Bear, Kaiju, and Poppy.
