HAZARDOUS WASTE

In Carroll County

With the expansion of advanced technology we have created hosts of new innovations and products that have been instrumental in establishing our high standard of living. However, in this process, we have generated excessive amounts of hazardous wastes, which consequently result in environmental damage due to improper disposal. The issue of hazardous waste is becoming increasingly paramount. With the increasing numbers of problems including

(1) soil erosion at solid waste facilities,

(2) waste-related odor problems,

(3) discharges of pollutants to surface-water,

(4) groundwater pollution, and

(5) inadequate covering leading to the explosion of potentially disease bearing animals such as rats, flies, and mosquitoes.

We can no longer afford to ignore the issue of hazardous waste.
