MAKING A MODEL OF STOMATA

Students will construct a model of open and closed stomata using balloons,

straws, glue and construction paper.

PROCEDURE:

CLOSED STOMATA:

1)Take two long balloons.

2)Inflate them 50%

3)Tape the 50%inflated and tied balloons to construction paper as shown in the illustration and glue the inside ends of balloons using rubber cement.

OPEN STOMATA

1)Take two same long balloons(same kind)

2)Inflate them completely

3)Tape them in the construction paper as shown in fig 2

4)Glue the balloons only in upper and lower inner parts leaving an opening in the middle.

Attach straws in the form of cells around the guard cells in both construction papers.
