The following activities may be used in order to enrich the curriculum. You may want to consider using one or more of these activities.
1. Contact knowledgeable speakers on topics such as gene therapy, cancer, genetics, in vitro fertilization, and cloning. Find out how many of your parents have experties in these areas and invite them to share their knowledge with your class.
2. Contact Howard University and Beltsville Agricultural Research to possibly arrange field trips on related topics.
3. If you have access to a video camera and movie making program, have students complete the Enrichment section on page 416, Science Interactions Course III, and film their skits to be shared with the class.
4. Assign students various types of cancer to research. Have them compare current data (no more than 4 years old ) with earlier data.
