Assessment activity:

Once the students have become familiar with chromosomes and karyotypes they will need to test their knowledge. The Biology Project has a great site for such an evaluation.

The Karyotyping Activity allows students to evaluate patient case histories complete their karytopes and diagnose any missing or extra chromosomes. There are two questions for each patient and an Internet search component to complete.

For the Internet search you may want to select specific sites for your students to visit rather then having them conduct a search on a multi search engine such as dogpile.
