What is my grade based on?
Participation: Attendance is mandatory: we will be viewing movies which we will discuss, working on strategies for solutions and giving presentations. You all need to be involved. Given there are only 2 classes per week, each counts. If you must miss a class, let me know beforehand. If you miss more than 2 classes I will deduct points.

Exams: (65%) There will be a midterm and final as well as minitests weekly. The questions will be the same as those assigned in the text. Read the text and class notes to answer the questions.

Final Project: You as the city planner (20%)You will research and present your own project the last week of class. Each inidividual will chose their own topic which comes from the syllabus..no duplication of topics. You can compare and contrast an environmental issue between your country/city and another, explaining the political, economic and social implications of Your final solution for your country or the contrasting country.
-You may include a physical model if you want.
-You need to include at least 10 references which stem from journal or text readings ( giving me a copy of the first page of the reference article). Most of these references should be from academic/research journals.. not just popular magazines or online sites ( though you can include these in addition).
-Your final presentation can be a Powerpoint, a web document or use of overheads (or even video if you have the resources).

Weekly Assignments: (15%)There will be short articles or assignments online to read and react to ( you write a short response to- 2-4 paragraphs); submit them to me via email or hand in class.
